CYNIDE is an artist, producer, and engineer from the picturesque island of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. His creative practice exists at the intersection of music, design, and culture, shaped by an instinct to build worlds rather than simply occupy them.

His journey into music began through an unexpected convergence of friendship, design, and opportunity.

After moving from St. Thomas to Atlanta to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he pursued a BFA in Interior Design, CYNIDE found himself immersed in a creative environment that challenged the way he understood space, composition, and storytelling. SCAD introduced him to a community of artists from around the world, while Atlanta exposed him to a city where music and culture were inseparable from everyday life.

It was during this period that a friendship with a fellow SCAD student from South Korea, Yeong Joo “Joseon Tailor” Jin, changed the trajectory of his creative life. Jin was studying Fashion Design while making music of his own. At a time when professional music software was far beyond what students could realistically afford, Jin shared Logic Pro X with CYNIDE and his roommate, Makumbi Muleba. What seemed like a simple gesture became a catalyst. Suddenly, music production was no longer something happening somewhere else. It was accessible.

CYNIDE approached sound, while music gave him another medium through which to explore emotion, atmosphere, rhythm, and identity.

His education in interior design became an unexpected foundation for his musical practice. He learned to think spatially: how elements interact, how negative space creates tension, how texture changes perception, and how individual components can become something greater when composed with intention.
